Dan Gillmor is an expert in social media, media literacy and digital media.

He is a professor of practice at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication and the director of ASU News Co/Lab, which works to advance media literacy through journalism, education and technology.

For almost 25 years, Gillmor was a professional journalist at various newspapers in several areas of the United States such as the San Jose Mercury News, Detroit Free Press and Kansas City Times. 

Professor Gillmor is the author of several books about media developments in the Digital Age, including We the Media and Mediactive, both of which have been published in a number of foreign languages.
