Ernesto L. Abeytia is a Basque and Spanish-American poet and teacher specializing in modern and contemporary American poetry, Spanish-English bilingual poetry, and multi-genre creative writing. 

His writing appears in DIALOGIST, Prairie Schooner, Hayden’s Ferry Review, Lake Effect, Nine Mile, Crab Orchard Review, Fugue, Zócalo Public Square, and elsewhere. He is an assistant editor for Digging Press’ chapbook series and a recurring judge for the Texas Association of Creative Writing Teachers’ Annual Graduate and Undergraduate Poetry Contests.

He is the recipient of fellowships, grants, and awards from the Colgate Writers Conference, the Arizona Commission on the Arts, Binghamton University, Arizona State University, Saint Louis University, the University of Arizona, and Arizona Humanities, where he is a Humanities Scholar. He teaches at Binghamton University and Arizona State University.
