Marc Adams analyses the impact of operant learning and behavioral economics on public health. Adams has been funded by the NIH and NCI to develop models of urban streetscapes that promote walking. His analysis of neighborhood environments has been used to develop geographic information systems. He has done multiple studies involving reinforcement intervention. This includes message-based intervention for weight loss as well as examining the eating habits of college students and adolescent sun protection behaviors.

Adams is an associate professor for the College of Health Solutions and the institute for Social Science Research.

He has worked with the National Institute of Health, the National Cancer Institute, the American Heart Association, and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute.
