Lance Gharavi is an expert in performance studies, theatre and science communication.

Gharavi is an associate professor in the School of Film, Dance and Theatre, the associate director of the Interplanetary Initiative at ASU, and an affiliated faculty member in the School of Earth and Space Exploration.

Professor Gharavi's research focuses on experimental theatre and performance, digital performance, religion and performance, critical theory, and intersections of science and art.

He recently completed work with a team of artists and physicists on a project about the Earth's deep interior called Beneath, and is currently working on projects about robots and the future of humans in space. His expertise has allowed him to collaborate with transdisciplinary teams of artists, scientists, designers, and engineers to create original and innovative works of media-rich live performance.
