The Dean of Students Office is aware of the incident between a handful of students that was captured in a video circulated on social media. The Dean of Students Office will be discussing it with all involved. ASU is a community of more than 100,000 people from all 50 states and more than 150 countries. Differences of opinion are part of the university experience. The university expects respectful dialogue between students in all engagements.

Arizona State University will comply with Gov. Ducey’s Executive Order issued today and will communicate changes in protocols to the university community.

Our Asian American and Pacific Islander communities have often suffered an unjust history in our country. It is a history of abuse and violation of constitutional and human rights, and it is an indicator of the deep failings that we have in our history and our fundamental weakness: We lack a full understanding of what equal means. 

Arizona State University and Rae’Lee Klein have agreed to settle a dispute that led her to sue the Arizona Board of Regents, ASU, the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication and interim Dean Kristin Gilger. 

With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, the Arizona State University Police Department extends its deepest sympathy to the family of Officer Joseph Montgomery, who passed away following an off-duty motorcycle accident on State Route 101 near the University Drive off-ramp, milepost 52, in Tempe this morning, Jan. 14. ASU Police Chief Michael Thompson referred to Montgomery as “a very valuable member of our department who we loved and respected highly.”
