Stephanie Pfirman studies environmental change in the Arctic, sea ice dynamics and climate adaptation with a focus on understanding and responding to the changing conditions there. 

Her work explores the consequences of alternative global futures for Arctic environmental, economic, and societal systems, in order to inform policy options. 

Pfirman also is developing and researching innovative approaches to formal and informal education, as well as the intersection between people’s backgrounds and interdisciplinary career trajectories.

Pfirman serves as deputy directory in ASU's School of Ocean Futures.
