Mary Donovan
Mary Donovan is an expert in conservation, ecosystems and sustainability.
She is an assistant professor for the School of Geographical Sciences and Urban Planning, and the Center for Global Discovery and Conservation Science.
Professor Donovan's research focuses on informing decisions for conservation that consider how ecosystems are threatened by both local and global impacts.
Prior to joining ASU, Donovan was a postdoctoral scholar at the University of California Santa Barbara Marine Science Institute, and the Hawai‘i Institute of Marine Biology.
The impacts of climate change on coral reefs are quite overwhelming. So to be able to uncover other effects [on reefs] puts it in the hands of everybody—we’re saying, human impacts are making things worse, and also, we can actually improve conditions.
