Natasha Mendoza's research is focused on substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. Mendoza's works identifies and connects people to service systems such as crisis response, child welfare and criminal justice. Her research interests are related to behavioral health. 

Mendoza is the director of the Center for Applied Behavioral Health Policy and associate professor at the School of Social Work.
