Dhruv Bhate conducts research in the design and mechanics of additive manufacturing structures and materials.

Bhate, an associate professor of manufacturing engineering, is using additive manufacturing to create aircraft and spacecraft components to replicate structures found in honeycombs and bamboo. He is also leading a project to advance additive manufacturing post-processing techniques for aerospace applications. Prior to joining ASU, Bhate led the Phoenix Analysis and Design Technologies’ research and development efforts in additive manufacturing. He also worked at Intel Corporation, developing several laser-based manufacturing processes and taking them from early-stage research to high-volume-manufacturing.
