Marianne Barrett is an expert in journalism, media and television.

She is the Louise Solheim Professor of Journalism and Mass Communication at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication.

Currently, she is conducting research on television audience behavior. 

Barrett has also has held leadership positions in the Broadcast Education Association, the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication and represented AEJMC on the Accrediting Council from 2011 to 2014.
