David Williams  is an expert in volcanology, planetary sciences and planetary geosciences.

He is a research professor in the School of Earth and Space Exploration, and he serves as the director for the Ronald Greeley Center for Planetary Studies.

Professor Williams performs research in volcanology and planetary geology, with a focus on planetary mapping, geochemical and remote sensing studies.

In addition to his work at ASU, Williams is the director of the NASA Planetary Aeolian Laboratory at the Ames Research Center in California.
