Ben Minteer is an expert in conservation biology and policy, ecological and environmental ethics, and environmental history. Minteer is a professor in the School of Life Sciences. His research focuses on the history and philosophy of conservation, the environmental ethics of the wilderness and the meaning of American environmental thought.

He is a published author and his work has appeared in various publications such as Science Magazine, Nature, Slate and many more.
