Amy Hillman's research explores how executive decision making is impacted by shareholders, resource dependence and other factors. She has spoken about the rise of women and racial minorities on corporate boards, noting the value of diverse perspectives. She highlights the importance of a company's ability to evolve and adapt when faced with unprecedented conflicts.

Hillman is the Charles J. Robel Dean of the W. P. Carey School of Business.

She is the former Editor of Academy of Management Review and has been featured in Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Journal, Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science and Administrative Science Quarterly.
