ASU Launches Digital Education Platform for All Learners as World Moves to Distance Learning Environment
As much of the world moves to a distance learning environment, Arizona State University today launched a new digital learning platform called ASU For You, which provides online educational resources for people of all ages and at all stages of their learning journey and for educators and parents who are working to continue teaching wherever in the world they may be.
ASU For You includes many learning tools at no cost such as virtual field trips; library access; video lessons, labs, and simulations in K-12 subject areas; badge and certificate programs in areas such as health and well-being, smart cities, and environmental science; tutoring, online courses and training videos for teachers or parents teaching from home; and courses for college credit.
“The spread of COVID-19 may necessitate changes in the way we learn, but it does not change our desire to continue learning or the importance of doing so,” said ASU President Michael M. Crow. “We know as precautions are taken to ensure the safety of our communities, we must find new methods to keep learning on track for everyone at every level. ASU for You is our answer to that.”
ASU For You embraces ASU’s Universal Learner concept, recognizing that to meet the needs of a rapidly changing, technology-driven world, people will need to access education and learning platforms throughout their life. Arizona State University currently serves more than 150,000 learners at every level through digital channels across the country and around the world.
The ASU for You platform is available not only for learners, but also for educators, families who choose homeschooling for their children, and parents who are working to keep their children in an education mode during the current disruption. The platform provides tools from ASU Prep Digital and assets from the Inspark Teaching Network and the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College. Teachers and families and learners of all kinds can find assistance in each of these environments to help them deliver education in a remote learning modality. Virtual Field Trips are also available, giving people a way to experience new places without ever leaving home.
Learners of all ages will find items of interest such as “Ask a Biologist,” “Ask an Anthropologist,” and “The NASA Psyche Mission Innovation Toolkit.” Learners can also find continuing education and professional development courses through “Enrich Your Life” and “Make Your Next Move.” If going back to college, starting college, or earning college credit while in high school is of interest, ASU for You offers courses for those pathways, too.
ASU For You is part of ASU’s ongoing commitment to take fundamental responsibility for the communities it serves and provide access to all learners anywhere in the world. While these resources are valuable at any time, they are particularly relevant today given the circumstances we all face with COVID-19. ASU For You will be updated regularly with new resources and tools.
