ASUPD Invites Community Members to Participate in Reaccreditation Hearing

July 29, 2021

The Arizona State University Police Department will be holding a virtual public hearing as part of its quadrennial site visit from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all activities associated with the reaccreditation process will take place virtually.

ASUPD has been accredited through CALEA since 1997, and is one of only 11 agencies in Arizona to hold this prestigious designation.

CALEA assessors will be evaluating the ASU Police Department’s compliance with designated standards in policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support services from August 9–11. Members of the community are encouraged to participate in a public hearing on Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2021 at 1 p.m.

Public comments will be limited to five minutes, and must address the agency’s ability to comply with CALEA’s standards. These standards can be found on the CALEA website, or by emailing ASUPD Accreditation Compliance Coordinator Hilda Godinez.

Anyone wishing to speak during the public information session is asked to register HERE.

Anyone unable to attend the session, but still wishing to provide comments, can reach out directly to the CALEA assessors at 480-965-7747 on Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2021 between 10 a.m. and Noon. Comments can also be submitted to the CALEA website, or mailed to the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement at 13575 Heathcote Blvd. Suite 320, Gainesville, Virginia 22030-2215.
