Kaiponanea Matsumura

Kaipo Matsumura’s work focuses on the recognition of non-marital relationships and on the informational functions performed by marriage law.

Matsumura is a professor at the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law and teaches contract law, civil procedure law, family law and a seminar on assisted reproductive technologies. His primary research is in how the law accommodates, shapes, and sometimes ignores individual preferences in its regulation of intimate relationships and the family. He has written extensively about the enforceability of agreements between people in intimate relationships.
